Work experience is a valuable way of getting into a local company to see what it is really like. By visiting a company and spending some time with them, you will learn a lot about how the company works, the kind of career opportunities available and the types of skills and personal qualities they are looking for. Just as importantly, it is a chance to get to know the people who work there and give a good impression of yourself, which could help if you decide to apply for an apprenticeship position there in the future.
Metals companies can offer work experience placements in engineering, production, laboratory work, design, sales and administration.
All applicants will need a high school education to show that they have the ability to progress in the metals industry (as well as passing grades in English, Math, and Science).
