Welder

Working to engineering drawings, the welder creates welded assemblies such as pressure vessels, pipelines, ships, architectural framework, machine bases and structures, machine enclosures, cabinets and guarding, electrical cabinets and enclosures, vehicle structures and frames, from components fabricated from steel sheets, plates, bars, and structural shapes.

Welding processes used include shielded metal arc welding (stick), gas metal arc welding (MIG) and gas tungsten arc welding (TIG). The welder’s skills may be certified according to standards established by the American Welding Society (AWS) or by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
